A Compass Card is a reloadable MTS smart fare card and your ticket to ride the Metropolitan Transit System. All MTS and most NCTD passes must be purchased on Compass Card. The Compass Card reloadedable and will last up to five years. Compass Cards are available for purchase at The Transit Store, NCTD customer service locations, ticket vending machines (with pass purchase), and third-party retail outlets. Using your Compass Card is easy. Just "tap" the Compass Card on the station platform validator before boarding a San Diego Trolley, or on the farebox when boarding an MTS Bus.
Note: Compass Cards are not sold on the bus. Day passes purchased on buses without a Compass Card are $7.
