With perfect weather comes a wide variety of outdoor activities and shopping is no exception. San Diego is home to one of the largest malls in California (Fashion Valley Mall), and also some well-known outdoor shopping malls, ranging from high-end to outlet to bargain venues.

Fashion Valley Mall is one of San Diego's largest outdoor shopping centers. The two-level, open-air luxury shopping center in Mission Valley features over 200 stores and restaurants including international fashion houses like Hermès, Prada and Salvatore Ferragamo, leading department stores like Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, while featuring specialty and retail shops like Apple, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, MAC Cosmetics, Burberry, Tory Burch, Ted Baker and Tiffany & Co.

One of San Diego's largest collections of stores and restaurants, Fashion Valley offers something for everyone to enjoy and also features many restaurants including The Cheesecake factory, P.F. Chang's and California Pizza Kitchen. Also at Fashion Valley Mall's 18-screen AMC movie theater.

Getting there:
By Car: Fashion Valley is located off Highway 163 at the Friars Road exit.

By Trolley: San Diego MTS offers direct trolley service via the Green Line with a stop at the Fashion Valley Transit Center near JCPenney.

Horton Plaza

Located in downtown San Diego, Westfield Horton Plaza with its open-air shopping is within walking distance of the Convention Center, Petco Park and the Cruise Ship Terminal. With its five staggered levels, Horton Plaza offers over 50 specialty shops, with restaurants, a multi-layered food court and attractions including a comedy club and restaurant, 14-screen movie theater and live theater performances at the Lyceum Theater.

Adjacent to the shopping center is the Horton Plaza Park. A central gathering spot and urban plaza for the community, this recently restored park is able to accommodate more than 200 events each year.

Anchored by Macy's, Regal United Artists Theatres, 24 Hour Fitness, and CVS Pharmacy, Horton Plaza is also home to such favorite brands as Aldo, bebe, American Eagle, Banana Republic, Express, Forever 21, Gap, Francesca's, GUESS, Bath and Body Works, and Victoria's Secret and more.

Getting to Horton Plaza:
By Trolley: Take the Blue or the Orange line to the Civic Center stop and make your way one block south to Horton Plaza.

By Train: Downtown San Diego's Santa Fe Depot is served by AMTRAK and North County Transit District COASTER rail lines. Horton Plaza is within walking distance of the Santa Fe Depot.

By Bus: Horton Plaza is served seven days a week by MTS Bus and Rail Routes. Many of the MTS Bus routes that serve downtown provide patrons service to bus stops located next to Horton Plaza. Others bus routes may drop off a few blocks away. The bus routes listed below provide direct service to Horton Plaza. The schedule and frequency for each route varies.

Westfield Mission Valley is conveniently located off Interstate 8 and Highway 163 in an area of San Diego regarded as an epicenter of retail and entertainment. This mall features a combination of popular anchors, big-box tenants, movie theater, grocer and restaurants.

Additionally, Westfield Mission Valley Center features numerous retail shops for value‐conscious shoppers, like Target, Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, Trader Joe's, Old Navy, Victoria's Secret and Bed Bath & Beyond. Restaurants include Outback Steakhouse, Yard House gastropub, King's Fish House, Tender Greens, Lazy Dog Café, Chipotle, Ruby's Diner and more.

Getting to Westfield Mission Valley:
By Trolley: Take the Green Line to Mission Valley Center. After deboarding, walk straight ahead past Panda Express. You will see the shopping center directly across the street. Cross at the light and enter via Macy's Home Furniture.

By Bus: Bus routes 6 or 14 travels to Westfield Mission Valley. Both of these buses stop along the north side of the shopping center next to Macy's Home Furniture.

Gaslamp Quarter

Gaslamp Quarter San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter located in downtown San Diego, featuring over 16 blocks of fine dining and entertainment with over 100 shopping venues.

Throughout the 16.5-block historic Gaslamp Quarter, shoppers can find well-known retailers like Urban Outfitters and Quicksilver alongside cutting-edge up-and-coming designers like "Project Runaway" finalist Gordana Gehlhausen and her signature store, Goga by Gordana. Modern pin-up styles at Bettie Page Clothing, hand-rolled cigars at the Cuban Cigar Factory and hats of all shapes and sizes at Goorin Brothers can also be found tucked away in the Gaslamp Quarter's Victorian architecture.

La Jolla's Prospect Street

Sometimes called the "Rodeo Drive" of San Diego, La Jolla's Prospect Street overlooks the Pacific Ocean and is lined with small antique emporiums, art galleries, high-end boutiques and specialty shops like Tijon, a luxury parfumerie and boutique. By Bus: San Diego SuperLoop routes 201 and 202 make frequent stops at the Westfield UTC Transit Center, located on Genesee Ave. Many other bus routes stop at our Transit Center as well, including MTS buses #30, 31, 50, 60, 105, 150, 201/202 and 204. MTS bus #41 also makes a stop at Genesee Ave just outside the Center.

By Train: The Coaster Trains link coastal communities and travelers from North San Diego to South San Diego. The Sorrento Valley Coaster Station, located between the merger of I-5 and I-805, is just 15 minutes away from UTC.
