The SmarTrip® card can hold up to $300 in Metrobus, Metrorail, and Metro parking value. A new card costs $2.
SmarTrip® cards are sold from dispensing machines at Metrorail stations. You can also buy a SmarTrip® card at over 200 retail locations or online at wmata.com.
One Day SmarTrip® Metrorail Pass is good for one full day of unlimited Metrorail travel. There are no time restrictions. Your One Day Pass will expire at the end of the operating day: 3 am on Friday and Saturday, midnight on Sunday through Thursday.
The 7-Day Fast Pass allows unlimited Metrorail rides for 7 consecutive days. This pass becomes effective the first time it is used.
The 7-Day Short Trip Pass is valid for seven consecutive days of unlimited Metrorail rides for trips that cost $3.60 or less when peak fares are in effect. During these times, if your trip costs more than $3.60, the additional charge will be deducted from the SmarTrip® card's Stored Value. Pass is good for any trip at all other times. The 7-Day Short Trip Pass becomes effective the first time it is used.
The 28-Day Fast Pass allows for 28 consecutive days of unlimited Metrorail travel.
7-Day Regional Bus Pass $17.50
The 7-Day Regional Bus Pass is valid for seven consecutive days of unlimited bus travel.
On express Metrobuses, the pass reduces the express bus fare by the price of a regular bus fare. (For example, if the express bus fare is $4, and a regular bus fare is $1.75 a the time of your trip, then your SmarTrip® card would be charged $2.25.)
