Getting Around Washington DC

The DC MetroBus is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), and is sixth largest bus network in the US with a comprehensive network of routes and running frequent almost around the clock. Operating 288 routes on 174 lines, many local bus lines in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area connect with major hotels, museums, monuments, memorials and other points of interest.

D.C. Metrobus serves the nation's capital 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week with a fleet of more than 1,500 eco-friendly buses.
All Metrobuses are equipped with a low floor and accessible to people with disabilities
Peak fares are in effect: Weekdays from opening until 9:30 a.m. and between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.
Off-peak fares are in effect at all other times.

D.C. Metrobus Fares

Metrobus regular routes fares $2.00 using a SmarTrip® card or cash
Seniors and people with disabilities $1.00 using Senior SmarTrip® card or cash (with proper ID)
   
Metrobus express routes fares $4.25 using a SmarTrip® card or cash
Seniors and people with disabilities $2.10 using a SmarTrip® card or cash
   
Airport Express routes fares $7.50 using a SmarTrip® card or cash
Seniors and people with disabilities $3.75

Note: When paying cash, you must have exact change. Bus operators do not carry money.

Metro Bus Child's Fare
Up to two children, 4 years and younger, ride free with each adult paying full fare. Children 5 and older pay adult fares.
