First things first, renting a car and driving in San Francisco is not for everyone. Navigating the city traffic and finding a place to park can be a nightmare. Parking is extremely difficult and can be quite expensive. Parking alone can add $40 or more to your hotel bill per night. Avoid it unless you really need to.
