The San Diego Embarcadero is the waterfront area of downtown San Diego porpularly known as the "Big Bay". This area is very popular with tourists and locals alike and is home to the San Diego Cruise Ship Terminal, the USS Midway, Navy Pier, the Star of India, and the San Diego Maritime Museum.

The San Diego Embarcadero is a year round visitors destination with lots to see and do. Without stopping, the Embarcadero is about a 20 minute walk from one point to the other. But with all the activities along the route, it can actually take 3 hours to complete. The route is lined with shops, Restaurants, fleet of historic ships and sightseeing cruises. Maritime Museum of San Diego

Maritime Museum of San Diego

Located on San Diego bay, Maritime Museum of San Diego has one of the world's finest collections of historic ships depicting the history of the U.S. Navy in San Diego.

Seven historic vessels are on display including the Star of India, who at 150 plus years old is the oldest active sailing ship, a Russian submarine, the HMS Surprise from Russell Crowe's movie, Master & Commander.

USS Midway Museum

USS Midway Museum

Located downtown in San Diego at Navy Pier, the San Diego USS Midway Museum is a 1,001 foot-long aircraft carrier docked at the habor. The longest-serving aircraft carrier in U.S. Navy history. Today families can climb ladders between decks and the gallery. The museum features a self-guided audio tour of more than 30 exhibits and the flight deck holds 25 restored aircrafts, a gift shop and lots of model planes.
