The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (Muni) oversees bus service in the city of San Francisco. Muni is a comprehensive system of low-floor biodiesel-electric hybrid buses that run throughout the city and they can get you to within a block or two of almost anywhere in town as quickly as possible.
What are Electric trolley buses?
Electric trolley buses are stretched buses with motors powered by electricity from overhead wires.
Bus stops will either have a shelter or yellow paint on a signpost or telephone pole.
Board at the front or rear door with a valid transfer or
Board through the front door and feed exact change into the meter

Transferring from one bus to another is free for 120 minutes after you purchase your ticket.
Muni runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year
Most routes begin between 5a.m. and 8 a.m.
Most routes end between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.
Some routes only run weekdays, daytime or during peak "rush" hours
A reduced "Owl" service network runs between 1 and 5 a.m. nightly

Adult single ride fare on Muni vehicles, good for 120 minutes of travel and can be used on a single route or a trip with multiple transfers across buses and light rail.

Do you know ..
Animals are welcome to ride on Muni buses during off peak hours. if your pet is not a service animal, you must pay a fare equal to yours for your pet.

Effective August 15, 2021 - anyone under 19 rides free! No proof of payment (Clipper card) required with the exception of Cable Car. San Francisco residents under the age of 19 that utilize Cable Car service for regular travel will be able to request a pass for travel.
