For locals and visitors alike, getting to or coming from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) is a piece of cake. The Bay Area is one of the few places in the US that has rail service to it's major airports.

The Bay Area two major airports, San Francisco Intl. Airport and Oakland Intl. Airport are fully accessible by public transit. Save money and ride the BART.

Located 14 miles south of San Francisco is San Francisco International Airport. A world-class international airport and among one of the world's 30 busiest airport.

BART trains connect San Francisco International Airport with downtown San Francisco, downtown Oakland, northern San Mateo County, the East Bay and many other Bay Area destinations.

Going to San Francisco International Airport

Riding the BART train to San Francisco Airport:
The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) provides train service to San Francisco International Airport. The SFO BART Station is located on the Departures/Ticketing Level of the International Terminal (Boarding Area G side). From there, ride the free SFO AirTrain to your terminal.

Riding the BART train from San Francisco Airport:
The San Francisco International Airport BART Station is located on the Departures/Ticketing Level of the International Terminal (G Gates side), a short walk from Terminals 1 and 3. The station is easily accessed from any terminal by riding the FREE AirTrain shuttle from the Domestic or International terminals to the Garage G - BART Station. A train ride from the BART station to downtown San Francisco should take 30 minutes.

Purchase your Clipper Cards at the SFO BART Station upon arrival to ride the BART. Fares are based on distance traveled. Use the BART Fare Calculator to determine the fare to your destination.

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) provides direct train service to and from Oakland International Airport (OAK). BART trains connect Oakland International Airport with downtown San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley and many other Bay Area destinations. The Oakland Airport BART station is located across from the Terminal 1 baggage claim area and a short walk from Terminal 2.

Going to Downtown Oakland from Oakland International Airport:

From the Oakland International Airport (OAK) station, board the BART shuttle train to the Coliseum Station (an 8-minute train ride). From Coliseum Station, transfer to a Richmond-bound train. It takes about 12 minutes to get to the 12th Street/Oakland City Center station, (a few blocks from Oakland Chinatown and Jack London Square). To return to Oakland International Airport, take a Warm Springs-bound train to the Coliseum station and go upstairs to transfer to an OAK train at Platform 3.

Going to Downtown San Francisco from Oakland International Airport:

From the Oakland International Airport (OAK) station, board the BART shuttle train to the Coliseum Station (an 8-minute train ride). From Coliseum Station, board a San Francisco/Daly City-bound train for a 21-minute ride to downtown San Francisco. From BART’s four downtown San Francisco stations, it’s an easy walk or short cab ride to most downtown destinations including hotels and the Moscone Convention Center.

To return to Oakland International Airport, take a Berryessa or Dublin/Pleasanton-bound train to the Coliseum station and go upstairs to transfer to an OAK train at Platform 3.

Note:
Children 4 and under ride free. All other passengers must have a BART ticket or Clipper card.
Ticket vending machines accept cash, credit, or debit cards. BART’s fares are based on travel distance. Calculate your fare here.

For travelers landing at OAK, there is no need to purchase a BART ticket or Clipper card until after you arrive at the Coliseum BART station. Take the FREE BART shuttle train to the Coliseum BART station. At the Coliseum Station, purchase your BART ticket to your final destination.

BART Connections
BART to Muni Connection

When you transfer from BART to Muni, Muni Metro light rail, or historic streetcars within an hour of using your adult Clipper card, you will automatically receive a 50-cent discount.

BART to Caltrain Connection at Millbrae Station

BART riders can transfer to Caltrain at the Millbrae Intermodal Station for destinations the Peninsula and south to San Jose and Gilroy.

Separate tickets are required to ride the Caltrain service and can be purchased at the Millbrae Station. More Information www.caltrain.com

BART to Capitol Corridor / AMTRAK Connection
