Los Angeles Metro Rail

Los Angeles Metro Rail

Metro operates the city's rail network, the Metro Rail. It is composed of three above-ground light rail systems (Gold Line, Blue Line, and Green Line) and one underground subway with two branches (Red Line and Purple Line).

Metro Red Line: Travels from LA Union Station west through North Hollywood.
Metro Gold Line: Travels from LA Union Station east into Pasadena.
Metro Purple Line: Travels from LA Union Station through downtown LA to the Wilshire/Western intersection.
Metro Blue Line: Travels from the 7th St./Metro Center to the Red or Purple Lines in Downtown LA and then to Long Beach.
Metro Green Line: Travels from Norwalk to Redondo Beach, and is reachable from the Blue Line. Note: Going to LAX!, get off at Aviation Station on the Green Line where a free shuttle bus serves all LAX terminals. Buses arrive at terminal lower levels.

Some Metro Rail Stations do not have fare gates but note that Metro fare inspectors conduct random checks of the system. If riders are caught without a ticket they can be fined up to $250 and/or ordered to perform community service for 48 hours.
