Los Angeles Beach Cities Attractions

 

There are over 30 miles of beaches in Los Angeles County from Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, Redondo, Manhattan to Long Beach. So whether you like to in-line skate, surf or just dig your toes in the sand, you have plenty of choices.

A trip to the beach is an LA thing to do. With the great Los Angeles weather, you can’t go wrong spending a day at the beach.

Venice Beach

Venice BeachA trip to LA is not complete without a visit to Venice Beach. Stroll down the Venice Beach Boardwalk to check out the street performers. On any given day, you're bound to come across all kinds of street performers from drummers, to mimes, to break-dancers, to talking parrots. Also walk over to muscle beach and watch a few hard bodies pump iron

Parking in the area ranges from $3 to $15 depending on the lot and the time of year. Street parking is also available in the neighborhood but finding once can be a challenge.

Santa Monica Pier

Great place to hang out. The Santa Monica Pier is a beach scene with a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies.

Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica

Just a short walk from the Santa Monica Pier and located in Downtown Santa Monica, this pedestrian-friendly outdoor shopping promenade is a complete with shops, movie theaters, restaurants and is often the scene of movie star-sightings.

Malibu

Malibu is home to a lot of celebrities, and also home to the Getty Villa. The city offers 27 miles of beaches and is one of the most surfed beaches in LA County. Malibu is also a great place to hike and horseback ride.

Marina del Rey

Nestled northwest of LAX is the beautiful harbor city of Marina del Rey. Considered one of the world's largest man-made, small boat harbors, Marina del Rey is a great destination for waterfront dining, sightseeing and shopping. There are also several yachts available for charter.

Queen Mary in Long Beach

One of the most famous passenger ships in history and once the largest ship afloat, the Queen Mary has been docked in Long Beach for longer than she sailed.

 

You will be impressed by her elegance. It's free to visit. Take a guided tour or enjoy dinner and drinks in one of it's restaurants. You can actually book a room for the night.

Los Angles World Cruise Center in San Pedro

San Pedro is home to the Los Angles World Cruise Center and is considered the busiest passenger cruise port on the West Coast. Take a cruise from San Pedro to Encinada, Mexico or a day trip to Catalina Island or charter a boat for a day-out fishing.

Los Angeles Maritime Museum in San Pedro

The Los Angeles Maritime Museum which is located in the 1941 Municipal Ferry Terminal, is now on the National Register of Historic Places.

The park includes monuments to the US Navy heavy cruiser LOS ANGELES, and the American Merchant Marine Veterans Memorial.
