San Francisco BART

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) trains serve 50 stations in San Francisco and surrounding cities of Berkeley, Oakland, Richmond, Fremont, Walnut Creek, Dublin/Pleasanton, and other cities in the East Bay and Santa Clara County. BART also operates a route to San Francisco International Airport and Oakland International Airport.

Weekdays (5:00 am- Midnight)
Saturday (6:00 am - Midnight)
Sunday (8:00 am - Midnight)

BART Frequency of Service

On weekdays trains run every 15 minutes.
Nights, weekends and holidays trains run every 20 minutes.

BART Fares and Tickets

BART fares are based on how far you travel. Children 4 and under ride free, but everyone else must have a valid ticket to ride the BART.

BART System Train Lines
Blue Line

The Blue Line route travels between Dublin/Pleasanton - San Francisco - Daly City

Yellow Line

The Yellow Line route travels between Pittsburg/Bay Point - San Francisco - San Francisco International Airport (extended to Millbrae in the evenings and weekends)

Orange Line

The Orange Line route travels between Richmond - Fremont

Red Line

The Red Line route travels between Richmond - San Francisco - Millbrae (Richmond - Daly City on Mondays - Fridays before 9pm.)

Green Line

The Green Line route travels between Fremont - San Francisco - Daly City

Riding BART to Downtown San Francisco

Board an Antioch (Yellow line) train or Richmond (Red line) train to one of the four downtown San Francisco BART stations. From there, it’s an easy walk or short cab ride to most San Francisco hotels and the Moscone Convention Center.

Riding BART to San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

Getting to San Francisco airport is as easy as boarding the SFO-bound train from downtown San Francisco and Downtown Oakland on the Antioch to SFO (Yellow) line and the Richmond to Millbrae + SFO (Red) line. SFO will be listed in the name of the train and line. From other areas, it may be necessary to transfer to an SFO-bound train. Check the BART System Map below for transfer points.

Upon arrival at San Francisco International Airport, walk, or take the AirTrain Red Line from the BART Station to Terminal 1, 2 or 3 for domestic flights. The International Terminal check-in counters are a short walk from the BART station main entrance.

Riding BART from Oakland International Airport (SFO)

Riding BART from Oakland airport to downtown Oakland is as easy as boarding the "BART to OAK train" from Oakland Airport to the Coliseum Station. Once at the Coliseum Station proceed to Platform 3 to purchase your ticket from the ticket-vending machines. From the Coliseum Station transfer to a Richmond-bound train. It takes about 12 minutes to get to the 12th Street/Oakland City Center station, right downtown, a few blocks from Oakland Chinatown and Jack London Square.

Fares from Downtown Oakland stations: $7.85; from Downtown San Francisco stations: $10.05; from Downtown Berkeley station $8.50; from Walnut Creek station $9.70; from Fremont $9.85; from Dublin Pleasanton station: $9.80. Calculate your fare here

BART Connections
BART to Muni Connection

When you transfer from BART to Muni, Muni Metro light rail, or historic streetcars within an hour of using your adult Clipper card, you will automatically receive a 50-cent discount.

BART to Caltrain Connection at Millbrae Station

BART riders can transfer to Caltrain at the Millbrae Intermodal Station for destinations the Peninsula and south to San Jose and Gilroy.

Separate tickets are required to ride the Caltrain service and can be purchased at the Millbrae Station. More Information www.caltrain.com

BART to Capitol Corridor / AMTRAK Connection

BART riders can transfer to Amtrak trains at the Richmond and Coliseum Stations for travel north, south and east. More information (800)872-7245; www.capitolcorridor.org
