The Aquarium of the Pacific Long Beach

 

The Aquarium of the Pacific is one of the largest aquariums in the United States with more than 12,500 animals in 50 exhibits. Take a journey of discovery through the Aquarium. See, touch, discover and learn about the fascinating marine life of Southern California and Baja, the frigid waters of the North Pacific, and the colorful reefs of the Tropical Pacific.

 

Hightlights of the aquarium include Shark Lagoon, where you can touch sharks. The Lorikeet Forest where you can feed lorikeet birds, and the Tropical Pacific gallery where you can watch sea lions at play..

 

There are over 500 species filling 19 major habitats at The Aquarium of the Pacific. Also 32 focus exhibits take visitors on a journey throughout the Pacific Ocean's three regions, - Southern California/Baja, the Tropical Pacific, and the Northern Pacific. Aquarium of the PacificParking for the Aquarium is immediately across the street. Visitors to the Aquarium can also enjoy the surrounding Long Beach area. The Queen Mary, The Pike at Rainbow Harbor, Shoreline Village, Pine Avenue and Belmont Shore are all easily reached by walking or by free land and water transportation. Directions to The Aquarium of the Pacific

 

The Aquarium of the Pacific is located half a mile from the Transit Mall in downtown Long Beach.

 

By Train

Take the Metro Blue Line to Long Beach Transit Mall then a 10 minute downhill walk to the Aquarium

 

Walking

Walking directions from the Transit Mall at Pine and 1st Street:

arrow Head South on Pine Ave. (towards the water)
arrow Turn right at The Paseo
arrow Turn left at Aquarium Way

 

By Bus
To get to the Aquarium of the Pacific by bus, take the Long Beach Transit's Passport C, a shuttle that services downtown Long Beach, the Aquarium of the Pacific, and the Queen Mary.

 

Note: You may take the Passport C Shuttle at the Northeast corner of Pine and Ocean Blvd with 8-10 minute wait (less on Fridays and Saturdays). For a detailed schedule, click here.

AAA 10% Discount
Show your AAA member card at the Aquarium ticket window and receive 10% off adult, child, and senior admission. Valid up to four discounts. Offer valid through December 31, 2010.

 

Military Discounts
Aquarium of the Pacific offers discount tickets to military personnel. Visit your local MWR office to purchase your discounted Aquarium of the Pacific tickets! Discounts only apply when purchasing tickets at your local MWR office.

 

Seniors Day
Free to seniors ages 50 and over with a valid photo ID. Just present identification to receive your ticket. Valid only on Wednesday, September 8, 2010.

 

Veteran’s Day

Veterans, military personnel, police officers, and firefighters who show valid service ID receive free admission on Thursday, November 11, 2010.
